Ingredients:
FOR THE LIGHT BATTER:
- 1 cup of all purpose flour
- 1 cup of water
- 1 tsp orange food color
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
FOR THE THICK BATTER:
- 1 cup + 1 tbsp of all purpose flour
- 1 cup of water
- 1 tsp orange food color
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
FOR THE SWEET AND SOUR DIP SAUCE:
- 1 tbsp all purpose flour
- 7 tbsp sugar *either brown or white will do
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp oyster *optional
- 4 – 5 tbsp vinegar *spiced vinegar is the best
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp powdered black pepper
Procedure:
Steps in cooking Kwek Kwek:
- Boil egg
- Make batter of your choice (light of thick)
- Roll eggs to a bowl of all purpose flour
- Cover with the wet batter
- Fry to your preference
Steps in cooking the sauce:
- Cook all purpose flour for 2 to 3 mins in a pan
- Turn of heat
- Add 1 cup or water
- Add the spices
- Mix well
- Turn on fire
- Let simmer for a while
- Mix well
- Cook for 2 to 3 mins
- Serve!
