Crispy Tokwa Sisig

Ingredients:

  • 400 g extra firm tofu, sliced into small cubes
  • 5 pcs Thai chili, chopped
  • 2 long green pepper, chopped
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 10 tbsp vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups cooking oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Procedure:

  1. Pour and heat cooking oil in a pot.
  2. Once the oil gets hot, deep-fry the cubed tofu until it turns crispy. Remove from the pot using a kitchen strainer.
  3. Put in a metal colander or into a plate lined with paper towel then set aside.
  4. Combine vegetable broth, soy sauce, onion powder, and cornstarch in a bowl. Stir until all the ingredients are well blended. Set aside.
  5. Scoop 3 tbsp of oil from the pot where the tofu were fried. Pour it in a clean pan. Heat the pan on a stove top.
  6. Saute onion, long green peppers, and chili.
  7. Add the crispy fried tofu then stir-fry for 1 minute.
  8. Pour the bowl with broth mixture into the pan. Toss the ingredients until coated with the mixture.
  9. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  10. Transfer to a serving plate. Serve with a dipping sauce composed of say sauce, calamansi, and crushed chili peppers, enjoy!
